SAP end-user training tools, compared

"SAP training" isn't one thing you buy — it's a few quite different routes, each solving a different slice of the problem. Here's an honest, sourced look at where each one fits.

Disclosure: this comparison is published by NeoKnova, which offers one of the approaches below. We've aimed to describe each route fairly and to cite sources you can verify. Product names are the trademarks of their respective owners and are used here for identification and comparison only (nominative fair use). NeoKnova is independent and not affiliated with SAP SE or any vendor named.

The honest framing for a buyer is: what do you actually need — content people learn from before go-live, in-app help once they're live, or a way to author your own? These routes aren't mutually exclusive, and the right answer is often "more than one."

Route 1 — Digital adoption platforms (DAPs)

SAP's own path: Enable Now → WalkMe Learning Arc

In-app guidance + learning suite

This is the most important moving fact for any SAP buyer right now: SAP is transitioning SAP Enable Now to WalkMe Learning Arc (SAP acquired WalkMe). The verified timeline:4

Where it fits: organisations standardising on SAP's roadmap, wanting in-app guidance on a live system, comfortable with a per-seat platform.

Where it's weaker for "before go-live": it overlays a running app, so it's strongest after go-live — and there's a live transition to navigate right now.

Route 2 — Simulation platforms

Example: Assima

Hyper-realistic practice simulations

Simulation specialists clone the live system so people practise real workflows safely. Assima positions itself on cloning the live system (rather than screenshots), with anonymise / translate / update without full re-capture.5

Where it fits: heavy, ongoing simulation needs at enterprise scale; teams wanting a dedicated practice environment they'll maintain as a platform.

Where it's weaker for our buyer: it's one modality (practice) on a per-seat platform, and cloning leans on system availability — less suited to "we need the whole journey, from documents, before the system is ready."

Route 3 — Bespoke / agency authoring

Traditional eLearning agencies & in-house authoring

Humans build to spec (Storyline, Captivate, etc.)

Where it fits: highly bespoke, brand-critical, one-off courses where craft matters more than turnaround or reuse.

Where it's weaker: slow and expensive to change; every process change is a new project; quality varies with the individual author; rarely SAP-specialist.

Route 4 — Document-driven content (where NeoKnova sits)

NeoKnova

Full learning suite, generated from your process documents

NeoKnova builds the complete journey — story-led course, microlearning, simulation, hands-on, knowledge check, job aid, performance support, guided live practice, trainer pack — from your own BPDs, fit-to-standard outputs, process maps and test scripts. One layered "source of truth" per process (SAP standard ⊕ your configured reality); fix a fact once and every artefact re-renders. Output is platform-agnostic (HTML/SCORM/content index), WCAG 2.2 AA, multilingual-capable, in your brand.

Where it fits: organisations 6–12 months from (or just past) an S/4HANA go-live that need people ready before the system is live, want to own platform-agnostic deliverables, and want one quote per process.

Honest limits: it isn't an in-app guidance layer for daily live use (a DAP does that), and it isn't a per-seat platform you log into — it's content you own. Newest entrant, early-access.

The honest one-liner per buyer

Need in-app help on a live system, ongoing? Look at the DAP route (SAP's own path is mid-transition — factor that in). Need deep, maintained practice sims at scale? A simulation platform. Need a one-off bespoke course and have the time and budget? An agency. Need the whole journey, in your brand, owned by you, ready before go-live, priced per process? That's the gap NeoKnova is built for.

Want this run on your own processes?

NeoKnova builds the complete learning journey from your SAP process documents, in your brand, ready before go-live. Send one BPD for an exact quote; serious enquiries get a gated demo under NDA.
